Project Inspiration

I find myself losing track of the medications I’m supposed to take, so I became curious to learn if others have similar problems with their medications.

Research

User Interviews

I interviewed six different people using the following questions:

1 Do you take any medications on a routine basis?

2 Can you walk me through your daily schedule regarding taking said medications?

3 How do you remember to take your medications?

4 Does anyone else know that you are taking these medications?

In order to maintain the confidentiality of each users’ prescriptions, specific medication information will not be shared.

User Personas

Kim, 19

  • Takes two medications on a daily basis

  • Medications are time sensitive; it is difficult to remember to take them on time given her busy and inconsistent schedule as a college student

Matthew, 35

  • Takes a few medications a week

  • Believes he doesn’t take them as consistently as he should

  • As a single parent, he puts so much focus into making sure his daughter has everything she needs that he sometimes forgets to take care of himself

Corinne, 92

  • Takes too many medications to count

  • The only way she can keep track of what medications she takes is by writing it down on paper, which she says she loses “almost every day”

  • Luckily, her daughter lives with her for half the year and makes sure that she takes every medication she needs

Biggest Takeaways from User Testing

1 It can be challenging to remember to take medications

2 Hard to keep track of multiple medications that each have their own instructions

3 Individuals have difficulty remembering what medications they have or have not taken yet

Problem Statement

People of all ages do not have a way to remember when to take their medications so they don’t miss a dosage and consequentially impact their health.

Logo

I created the final logo by separating the word “Take” from the cross symbol, using an updated color palette, and adding the words “Medicine Tracker” underneath the title for more context.

Color Palette

I created the final color palette based off of the feedback I received from an earlier prototype. Users didn’t like the use of red, as it has a negative association with the doctor’s office. I used two shades of blue to create a calming experience, with the addition of yellow that symbolizing brightness and positivity.

Typography

I used Galvji throughout Take+ because it feels structured and reliable.
